  • 650g strong white flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 400ml lukewarm water
  • 1 ½ tsp caster sugar
  • 7g dried instant yeast
  • 40g lard
  • Rice flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by dissolving sugar in lukewarm water and adding yeast; set aside until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt, then rub in cold lard.
  3. Create a well in the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture; stir to form a dough.
  4. Knead the dough using a stand mixer or by hand until elastic (about 10 minutes).
  5. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape into rolls and let rise again for another hour while preheating the oven.
  7. Bake at 230°C for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.
