Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (for coating)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, water, sugar, and melted butter. Sprinkle in yeast and let bloom for 5 minutes.
  2. Gradually mix in flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Prepare the blueberry filling by mixing half of the blueberries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and salt.
  5. After rising, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Cut into small pieces and dip each in melted butter before rolling in brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Layer the dough pieces in a greased baking pan with half the blueberry mixture; repeat layers.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese glaze.
